With the most advanced and challenging race track in the world, Shanghai International Circuit was completed in May 2004. Located in Jiading District and neighboring Shanghai International Automobile City (SIAC), Shanghai Circuit is 30 kilometers to the city center and 20 kilometers to the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. The circuit is surrounded by Jia Jin Highway (A5), Hu Jia Liu Highway (A12) and Outer Loop Highway (A30). A planned No.11 light rail line will link the circuit to the downtown area and also to the 2010 Expo venue.
With the capacity of hosting some 200,000 people, Shanghai Circuit 's main buildings have an area of about 150,000 square meters, including the Main Grandstand, Sub-Grandstands, Race Control Tower, Administration Tower, Media Center, Sky Restaurant, Team Houses, and Pit Building etc.
Since its completion, Shanghai International Circuit has successfully hosted F1 Chinese Grand Prix, MOTOGP, V8 Super Cars Series and China Circuit Championship (CCC), which fully demonstrated Shanghai's competence in hosting top international sports events, greatly enhanced the regional economic development and the social-cultural communication between China and the world.
